Eiji Miyajke is the main character of David Mitchell's second novel, number9dream. He is a young Japanese man who spent the last nine years on the island of Yakushima, and has come to Tokyo to find his father, who he has never known. He had a twin sister, Anju Miyake, who died nine years before the start of the novel.

At the start of the novel, Miyake is 19 years old. His birthday is either on September 7 or September 8, 1980. On August 24, 2000, when the novel begins, Miyake calculates that he is 7,290 days old, including four leap years. Miyake (or Mitchell) miscalculates here: if he was born in September 1980, there have been five leap years: in 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996 and 2000. Given these leap years, Miyake would actually be 7,291 days old.
